Overview

Learn to scuba in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean where you can spot all kinds of tropical fish and marine life. Become immersed in the local culture, learning traditional skills and making a measurable impact through a variety of community development initiatives. There will also be time to take in the scenery and truly appreciate Kenya’s spectacular coastline with a boat trip to Wasini Island on a traditional dhow.

Day to Day

Day 01

Welcome to Kenya

On arrival at Mombasa airport, you will be met by a member of our team who will transfer you to our Ocean Camp. Here you will receive a camp orientation and briefing on what you’ll be getting up to over the next 8 days.

Day 02 - 05

PADI Open Water Dive Course

Over the next 4 days, you will be learning to scuba dive with PADI. The course will be a mixture of classroom learning, poolside practice and open water dives in the Indian Ocean where you may have the chance to spot turtles and reef sharks. By the end of the course, you will be certified by PADI to dive up to 18 metres.

Day 06

Wasini island

After breakfast, you will head out of our Ocean Camp and spend the day in style on an unforgettable boat trip to the beautiful Wasini Island. You’ll embark on a full day excursion on a traditional wooden dhow with the chance to spot some dolphins if you’re lucky! After returning to shore, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Shimoni caves. These caves are steeped in history as this was where captured slaves from nearby communities were held before they were shipped around the world. In the evening, you will be transferred to Camp Muhaka where you will have a well-earned dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Day 07

Community project work

In the Muhaka region, there are many vulnerable families and elders whose homes have fallen into disrepair. The schools here are also critically underfunded and in need of support. You will spend the day working alongside our locally employed craftsmen to help improve these facilities.

Day 08

Departure

Today you will be transferred back to the airport where you will say your final goodbyes to the team before boarding your flight home.
