Overview

Delivered and designed by our team of educators – including teachers, environmental scientists and conservation biologists – we have developed progressive field study programs to meet specific curriculum requirements of primary, secondary and senior year groups – typical trip duration 1 day.

Our studies are conducted in the four main environmental biomes of the UAE: rocky shore, wadi, mangrove & desert ecosystems. Each ecosystem offers a different hands-on learning experience and brings a new understanding of the natural world.

The scope of studies available within these ecosystems include, but are not limited to, species adaptation, classification and identification, tidal influences, microclimates, abiotic and biotic factors, water quality, photosynthesis, climate change and much, much more.

To prepare younger age groups for further academic study, we always like to include elements of field study skills, equipment use and data collection into our studies. To request a field studies brochure, please contact us directly.

Senior Field Studies: Our team of field study professionals frequently deliver both A-level and IB senior level field study programs. Commonly conducted within Umm Al-Quwain’s mangrove ecosystem, our study trips are tailored to meet the exacting specification required from our client schools.

Equipment Use

Data collection and processing using transects, quadrats, water and soil testing, data logging, and random & systematic sampling

Designing biological investigations tested statistically - making conclusions, working with acceptable errors and accurate collection methods

Using different statistical tests including t-test, spearman’s rank, ANOVA & chi-squared, and using biological equations to calculate values from data collected

Looking for trends in relationships, hypothesis/null-hypothesis development and testing, and controlling variables as well as selecting the correct data-collection methods
